Storm beginning to come together

The third and final exhibition game had the Storm face the Georgina Golden Hawks in Keswick. The Hawks had a distinct advantage in conditioning since this was their ninth game in the preseason. Yet it was the Storm that came out strong. In the first minute of the game Kailee snapped a shot from 20 feet out past the Hawk goalie for a very early lead. Later in the period Allie blasted a wrist shot from the point into the top corner to increase the lead to 2-0. Georgina was able to get one back several minutes later but with just 1 second remaining in the period Amanda powered her way to the net from the boards and lifted a backhand shot over the sprawled goalie.

The Storm played a strong physical game against a larger and better conditioned team. However, by the third period, Georgina began to take command as the Storm players began to run out of gas and began making a series of mental errors. The Hawks capitalized on the opportunities and tied the game with just 2 minute remaining. The game finished in a 3-3 tie. Beyond the mental errors there were a lot of positives coming out of the game. The Georgina goalie faced some very difficult shots and had Storm players crashing the crease throughout the game. The passing and team play was also improved. It is apparent that the team is slowly getting in form for the start of the season.
